Week 6 - CodeClan
This week is the Java week, we have touched on basic concept like ArrayList, HaspMap and Enum, I enjoyed this week, what I liked the most is the learning pace that the instructor approach each individual concept, it allows me to understand the logic and also have enough time to practise the syntax.
Personally I had pervious experiencing of learning Java, when I studied my Master’s Degree 10 years ago, on Java Network Programming, it was my favourite topic at the time, as part of the module me and a group of students built a “WhatsApp” liked Client/Server based messaging app using Java Multiple Threading concept.
I really want to take advantage of the Java learning weeks, and try to learn more to build a solid foundation, so I bought a Java book and started to read a bit just before I go to bed, and found that beneficial in so many ways, I will definitely keep it up.
If there is one thing I would like to be able to take away from this course ,that would be the ability to learn a new language by myself, and after last 5 weeks of Ruby and this week, I think the right approach for me so far is to read and understand the concept and then put it into practise.
My biggest changeling of the course so far is that I diving into the action before I fully understand the instruction, for a few times now I have to refactor my code halfway through, it was really not fun, I really need to change my approach and hold myself off until I fully understand the instruction and have a detailed plan before I start to code.
Today is the 20thof May, which is the newly named Chinese Cyber Valentines days, the combination of 520 makes the similarity sound of I Love you which is “wo ai ni” in Mandarin , so I bought a small box of donut to my wife as my way to thanks her for her support. It has been a tough 6 weeks for her, as we live in Aberdeen, for this course, I have to give up my previous job, and rent a place in Edinburgh, we only see each other on the weekends, so there are a lot of things on her shoulder, I know it hasn’t been easy for her, and I want to take with opportunity to say to my wife “Baby! I love you!”.
I would like to know how the 6 weeks cose work. Is it has a cost ? When start? And where is the place?
Hello there, How is it work?
