CodeClan Week - 14

CodeClan Week - 14

As I mentioned in my last week’s post, this week is the JavaScript group project week. My group decided to create a web app using a leaflet map API to display the location of the known Cryptids. The project was a total success, we built our team from a frustrating Friday, where individuality was spread in the air. I felt as the week goes by we started to work with each other, we discussed what worked well so we will continue, and what didn’t work so we will stop, and what we should try. Towards the end of the project, each one of us understood what was required by the team and contributed voluntarily with initiative and responsibility.

This group project made me realise the importance of UX design, I know I am very arrogant with my own idea, and desperately keening to hold on to my creation/feature, so desperate that makes me stubborn. It is could be a good thing, at least it shows initiative and ownership, but it also creates conflict. That is when UX comes to the rescue, I realise a feature should be created for the user and only for the user, if the feedback from the user group decided that my creation was not suitable for the user, then I should let it go.

This week I have learned so much, from learning using Agile to getting used to working with someone outside my comfort zoom. My biggest take away from this week is that I need to become a better learner, understand my team, understand the issue, and more importantly understand how to contributing to the team.

At the end of this post, I would like to give a special shout-out to team waterfall, with Sarah, Duncan, Daniel and Davina, their group made an educational Geo Game app, for kids to guess the correct location from a map view base on a picture of a famous landmark. it is very interactive and fun, by far my favourite app for the course. Please check it out.
