Week 11 - Code Clan
This week is the first week of four weeks of learning JavaScript, in this week, I have learnt to create functions, iterating with Enum and access data through the Dom, a lot of the concepts, which can related to Ruby or Java that makes it less intricacy; the Dom is a completely new territory for me, all I know is it makes interacting with HTML more dynamic using JavaScript.
One thing I realised this week is that I have less fear when it comes to learning new things, for example, the Dom, I have accepted that it is ok to not fully understand it at the first time, and it will come gradually, having this new mindset relaxes me from the nerves of excitement, therefore I can focus on the actual learning itself.
Having more confidence in reading documentation is one of the achievements of me this week, thanks to the support and encouragement from our instructor Sian, I feel more confident and sufficient to explore on my own.
With the World Cup on it has been very difficult to ignore it, I have been really organised so far, didn’t miss any “exciting” games and still remain focused on my study. I am impressed with England, Croatia, Portugal, Mexico and even Japan, they all played as a team, defend as a unit, attack with purpose and efficiency. I can see they have a clear game plan and each individual player knows his role to play in the game, with a bit of luck they all got the result they wanted. That makes me thinking about software development and how do I fit in a team and what role I will play and what will I become four years later when the next World Cup kicks off?
