Eircode Launch Imminent
After a long wait for the relevant Bill (the Communications Regulation (Postal Services) (Amendment) Bill 2015) to be passed, we can all now look forward to the launch of Ireland's new postcode system, with media reporting that the go-live date for the new code will be Monday 6th July, although this has yet to be confirmed officially.
This Bill is the final link in the chain that will allow for the long-running project to reach a conclusion and I am sure that the public and business alike are eager to find out what their new code will be and to start reaping the benefits of finally having a nationwide system of unique addresses.
Before the code comes out, there has already been a preview of the new Autoaddress API, which will allow business to seamlessly integrate an Eircode-enabled solution from the day that the postcode launches.
And a final note on the piece on the Eircode that was aired during last night's edition of Prime Time on RTÉ 1. It was a short and informative item that showcased a number of benefits of the code as well as highlighting the endorsement of the emergency services for the new code.
Clearly, we would have preferred a more in depth discussion about how the code will work and the myriad benefits that the public will get from the code, but as a soft introduction into the public consciousness it was a good start and hopefully got people more engaged and excited for Eircodes.
If you missed the piece on Prime Time, you can find it about 20 minutes in here*: http://t.co/QjiavUYIW7

A snip at €27million..!
Good stuff Ronan. The sooner they are out the better, at this stage.
Eircode:- a postcode designed by An Post to be so restrictive in capability that even An Post themselves can't make any meaningful use of it;- only in Ireland!
