"Shared"... "Connected" and..."Electric"

Let's start with something that is very different than the topic we intend to cover. Probably more than two decades , I still understand the Indian middle class has been successfully churning out engineers and doctors, the best lots across the world. The service sector has been best served by Indians better than any other country in the world. This is probably evident from Industry trends, people reaching up to the top of the global corporate ladder. We as a society have not been able to overcome our own dogmatic approach. In today's world of opportunities we still limit ourselves to the idea of being an engineer or a doctor.

The relevance of the above is very important for the Indian context of shared, connected and electric mobility. Perhaps a one stop solution to all those urban commuters who face massive congestion and precious time as well. Today we find the clamor for a better quality of life and sustainable environment for future.

"Shared"

The challenge of sharing space is notorious with Indian masses we come with so much lag inertia and mindset roadblocks in the forms of regions, community, religion caste structures the list is endless. On top of it we also have the common masses, VVIP , Aristocrats the list goes endlessly. So the intent to share is challenging in itself. Breaking the mold would be tough through govt actions alone but easy when people realize the net effects and the gross affects. Probably lesser time spent on road, money saved on commuting, more productive after office timings and fundamentally linking it with better health practice advocating outdoor activities for healthier self reducing footprints of medical bills.

Maybe the health insurance companies should start mapping the consumers with commuting behavior as a benchmark for quality of life while covering important health aspects and risks. This could be a step further than the fee-bate policy launched by NITI Ayog recently.

"Connected"

The penetration of smartphone in India is another major case study. The potential is immense and to add to it the technological advancements has reduced the average life of a cell phone to probably less than a year. Once connected the information logged can be put to smarter use which is presently missing in the Indian context. It helps to create a connected ecosystem which can find application in multiple fields and also create an ever revolving sharing pattern. Perhaps getting connected is the very first milestone in the road map of shared connected and e-mobility. A mere logging into an app or scanning a QR code brings in a lot of information on habits and patterns. The data blocks are all untapped, together they hold a key to future probably why the world plans to switch to the AI. AI which solves complex problem but creates intrigued questions and possible threat as well.

"Electric"

The space for E-Mobility is slowly turning into a fierce battlefield stakeholders jostling for space to hog the limelight in the Indian market. This has been generating quite a bit of buzz and has gained significant traction by way of policy making as well. Though the bigger picture that looms is the EVSE and it seems everyone is seemingly convinced to connect the EVCS to the same polluting grid through way of burning fossil fuels. Maybe the benefits of net carbon footprints would be lesser than the present scenario subsequently the transition shall happen when grid shall give away to micro-grids and nano-grids for all our charging needs. The revenue offset by way rebating and incentivizing the E -Mobility can be easily offset by the inflection point on oil displacement, India is after all in the list of top three importers of crude.
