Digital Visibility

Digital Visibility

Easy Deep Thoughts (Digital Visibility) with special guest Craig Darling . Craig and his company Darling Local help business increase visibility online through Google Business Profiles. Coincidently, I unsuccessfully tried to setup a profile for my remote business 1+ months before giving up = Craig solved my problem in 5 seconds.

Deep Thought on Digital Visibility

What's the alternative? This is interesting to consider and the alternative perspectives in my mind are saying "It doesn't matter. We'll just provide good service / good product and everything will work out."

Today is different than tomorrow = tomorrow will be different than today.

Banking on Good Service and Good Product worked great yesterday, not so well today, and companies are doomed if they don't jump on board the 'Digital Visibility' ship tomorrow. Not online = Don't exist.

Society is changing. Small local businesses in small unheard of towns (best case product and service marketing situation) are losing. I consider this psychological more than logistical. Example: Logistically, the physically closest, easiest location, most cost effective service should beat all = not true.

Humans skew toward easy and comfort = best service and best product are not how the internet works = easy trumps all. The business with 100 ad's beats the business with 0. Businesses with signs posted all over town beats a business with a great but unknown product.

I frequently hear "build it and they will come" Field of Dreams type advice from business owners. This is currently both true and untrue and its becoming less true over time = perception beats reality = reality is less than perception = perception of easy and comfortable beats a reality of good service or product.

Great products no longer sell themselves

My point above is counter intuitive and counter to well established (old) business perspectives. Planning to fail is not planning to have a online marketing plan. What worked before, won't work the same way in the future.

I meet a lot of business owners with no online strategy = questionable decision.
