From an early age, Manu Sekar had good design skills and strongly believed in self-learning. As a self-taught designer and developer, he wanted to provide the same opportunities he had for others.
His journey to code a change started in 2016 when he launched ‘TechDiva’. Through TechDiva, he made an impact on the lives of many girls of different backgrounds, by teaching them computer programming and providing job opportunities.
A few years later when he was invited to be part of a career conference for autism, he understood how differently-abled individuals were given education, but most of them end up doing vocational jobs. With time he also began to explore more and started to believe in a truly inclusive and diversified world. As a result, TechDiva transformed into HashHackCode in May 2019.
At HashHackCode, they believe anyone can code and everyone has a unique style of learning. Their goal is to provide inclusive tech education and mentorship regardless of background, abilities, gender or age.
A personalised teaching methodology is curated for every student, based on their interests and style of learning. After 8-12 months of training, he plans to provide in-house job opportunities for all the students, where they get to work on various tech projects. Through this wonderful initiative, he is trying to build a comprehensive workforce and develop a cognitive way of thinking in each of his students.
Being a founder of a self-funded startup, he says that tech can give opportunities to anyone and envisions to build a generation of coders from different cross-sections of society. As a passionate coder myself, I can’t wait to watch him create a community of amazing coders.
