Here are 7 ChatGPT hacks that unlocked real leverage & saved me hundreds of hours. I won't waste your time: 1. Use it like a strategist, not a search engine. Stop asking it for facts. Ask it for angles, systems, frameworks. You want leverage, not just answers. Instead of “what are good business ideas?” Try: “What are 7 business ideas people are quietly discussing in subreddits that are likely to explode in 3 years?” Huge difference. 2. Feed it (A LOT OF) real context, not vague prompts. “Make this shorter” is weak. “Make this understandable to a 5th grader” is strong. Upload reference docs, paste examples, show what you actually want. It’s not magic. It’s math + context. 3. Build workflows, not one-off prompts. You don’t want a one-time email. Layer prompts like a builder, not a browser. Don’t expect gold from your first input. Ask. Refine. Reword. Reframe. Push. Test. It's clay, not a vending machine. Massage it! 5. How I Use ChatGPT to Co-Write My Posts — And How You Can Too Most people use ChatGPT as an assistant that drafts text. I use it as a thinking partner. That difference matters, because the real value isn’t the writing—it’s the clarity you gain when the AI is allowed to challenge you. Here’s how I’ve learned to work with it, and how you can do the same. 1. I make my assumptions explicit. I've trained ChatGPT not to be agreeable or polite. It knows to reason with me the way a peer scientist would—questioning logic, pointing out gaps, and pushing for precision. So I tell it my foundational assumptions (in my case: the axioms I use to reason about value, flow, and learning). You can do the same, whatever your field is. Once the AI knows your foundations, it can keep your writing anchored to them and prevent unintentional drift. 2. It helps me refine tone by keeping me aligned to my own principles. Left unchecked, any writer slips into habits or framing they don’t intend. For me, that meant avoiding comparison-based language and ti stay axiom-first. For you, it might mean staying customer-centric, technical-precise, empathetic, direct, or analytical. If you tell ChatGPT the tone you don’t want—and why—it will track that constraint better than you can in the moment. 3. It accelerates the thinking process, not just the writing process. My workflow looks like this: 1. Identify the idea I want to explore. 2. Explain why it matters. 3. Let ChatGPT challenge the logic. 4. Refine the reasoning together. 5. Only then ask it to draft something. Most people skip straight to step 5. That gives you text, but not clarity. The real leverage comes from letting the AI expose assumptions, contradictions, or missing pieces in your thinking before a single sentence is written. 4. It surfaces structure you didn’t know you needed. Often I’ll bring a fuzzy intuition to ChatGPT—something that feels important but isn’t yet coherent. Through back-and-forth questioning, the structure emerges: - What’s the objective? - What’s the principle behind it? - What sequence makes sense? - What’s missing? - What does the reader need first? The AI is very good at noticing what you skipped. 5. The result: my writing is clearer, faster, and more grounded. Yes, it saves time. But more importantly, it makes the thinking sharper. It forces me to articulate what I normally skip over. It exposes where I’m vague. It keeps me aligned to my own principles even when I drift. If you treat an LLM as a co-thinker instead of a text generator, it becomes a multiplier for clarity—not just productivity. If you haven’t tried using ChatGPT this way, experiment with it. Tell it your foundational principles. Define the tone you want—and don’t want. Let it challenge you before it writes anything.
