Make Sunday night about joy, rest, or stillness -- whatever grounds you. 2. Anchor in your 'why'. A brand without purpose feels empty. So does a Monday without intention. Pick one thing this week you’re building toward -- and start from there. 3. Let your people speak. Skip the classic review. Here are the 5 strategies that have helped me most: 1. Protect your weekend rest. If you show up on Monday more depleted than you were on Friday, the week won’t go well — no matter how good your intentions are. Make rest non-negotiable. Your performance depends on it. 2. Set your Monday launch plan on Friday. Before you shut the laptop, write down the first 1–3 tasks you’ll tackle Monday morning. No thinking. No wondering. Just start. Before heading into the weekend, spend a few minutes on Friday outlining your Monday priorities. You’ll walk in having clarity about what needs your immediate attention. Make your bed! Ease back in by completing small tasks first. Start your Monday with lighter tasks to build momentum. Reply to emails, check in with your team, or organize your workspace. Gradually ramp up to your heavier, more complex tasks as your brain adjusts to work mode. Set Realistic Goals Don’t expect to tackle everything on Monday. Instead, choose 2-3 high-impact tasks and focus on completing those. This will help you build momentum as the week progresses. "Monday mornings feel like climbing a mountain." We all know the feeling. You open your laptop, sip your coffee, and try to psych yourself up to tackle the week—but sometimes, that mountain feels a little too steep. I remember one senior colleague describing this sentiment to me during a trying time. As dedicated as she had been for over two decades, she admitted that even she found herself at the bottom of a mental mountain on some Mondays. If you're constantly between this feeling on Mondays, then you should know that, the mountain doesn't have to be climbed in a day. Some days, a few small steps forward is enough. Over my years of practise as a Mental health practitioner, here are some few tips I'd recommend to help you start your week off on the right foot: 📍Prioritize “micro-wins”: Set one small, realistic goal to achieve each day. This could be finishing that email, connecting with a colleague, or taking a 10-minute break. Completing these tiny goals builds a sense of accomplishment and keeps the momentum going. 📍Practice the “5-for-5” rule: When stress peaks, take 5 minutes to identify five things you’re grateful for. This simple act of gratitude has an almost magical way of shifting our mindset, even when challenges are tough. 📍The Rule of Three: Make a list of just three things you want to complete by the end of the day. Keep it short, doable, and focused. Sometimes, overloading the to-do list just overwhelms us and leads to procrastination. 📍Accept the “one bad day” rule: Not every day will be amazing, and that’s okay. No matter how strong our mental health practices are, some days we just don’t feel great—and that’s a part of being human. Give yourself grace on those days. 📍Check your Self-Talk: Sometimes, our inner voice is the harshest critic. Pay attention to your self-talk, and reframe any unhelpful thoughts. Change “I have to do this” to “I get to do this,” or “This is going to be tough” to “I can handle this.” A little kindness goes a long way. 📍Embrace "Good Enough": Not everything needs to be done perfectly, especially on Mondays. Aim for “good enough” on the basics, and reserve your energy for the more important tasks later in the week. 📍Wrap-up reflection: At the end of the day, take a few moments to reflect on what went well and what you’re grateful for. Starting a “Monday Win” list can be surprisingly satisfying and helps close the day on a positive note, so you’re ready to take on Tuesday. Not every Monday needs to be a sprint. Mondays can feel like a battle. You start with enthusiastic optimism, only to get smacked by requests and piled-up emails. Here's an almost foolproof way to turn your day (and week) around. It starts with one rule: NO MULTITASKING. I don’t care if you can juggle with your feet while coding. Stop multitasking. I coach people for a living. I promise. It doesn’t make you perform better. Anyway, here are the rest of the steps: - STOP: Pause everything. Timer on 10 minutes. DND on your phone + Slack/Teams (non-negotiable) - Brain Dump: Write EVERYTHING down that's on your mind. No filter. All thoughts, tasks, and worries out of your head and onto paper. Clearing mental clutter is the goal here. - Identify 3-4 urgent tasks. Focus here first. Tackle one at a time.
