WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING AND HOW NETFLIX USING AWS.

In the present world, We mostly need storage and RAM(Random Access Memory).

RAM is used for loading applications, browsing the internet, editing a spreadsheet, or experiencing the latest game.

So, when we have less RAM and storage our system stops running properly and there maybe issues in transferring the files which severely damages the computer performance.

To overcome these problem, we came through cloud computing.

WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING?HOW IT IS USED?

Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of computer system resources, especially data storage (cloud storage) and computing power, without direct active management by the user.

Advantages of cloud computing:

1. Cloud computing allows a business to cut their operational and fixed monthly costs of hardware, databases, servers, software licenses. All hardware, database servers, web servers, software, products, and services are hosted in the cloud and added to an account as needed.

2. Cloud computing offers 24/7 uptime (99.99% uptime). Cloud servers and data centers are managed by the cloud service provided. Therefore, there is no need for employee management.

3. Cloud computing is scalable and reliable. There is no limit to the number of users or resources.

4. Cloud computing provides maintainability and automatic updates of new software, OS, databases, and third-party software. It also reduces IT labour cost for a business.

The top 10 cloud providers are:

⦁ Microsoft Azure

⦁ Amazon Web Services (AWS)

⦁ Google Cloud

⦁ Alibaba Cloud

⦁ IBM Cloud

⦁ Oracle

⦁ Salesforce

⦁ SAP

⦁ Rackspace Cloud

⦁ VMWare

The mostly used cloud provider all over the world is AWS(Amazon Web Services)

And the top most companies which use AWS are:

i. Netflix

ii. Twitch

iii. Linkedin

iv. Facebook

v. Turner broadcasting

Let's see how Netflix using AWS:

Netflix uses AWS for nearly all its computing and storage needs, including databases, analytics, recommendation engines, video transcoding, and more—hundreds of functions that in total use more than 100,000 server instances on AWS.

Netflix spends around $9.6 million per month on AWS. And with the free version of Intricately, we can see how this money is allocated across different AWS products.

Netflix has completed its move to the public cloud, having shut down its last in-house data center and moved all its back-office services to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud.

Back in 2008, Netflix was majorly working on DVD-by-mail service. Due to database corruption incident, DVD shipping was disrupted for three days. Netflix management decided to move to the cloud, away from relational systems in their data centres.

Netflix still uses AWS because there are so many shows which the users watch it on Netflix ,if Netflix start constructing its own datacentre , just imagine how many datacentre will it require. We can only imagine the cost for building the infrastructure.

In this way Netflix uses amazon web services.
