Thanksgiving Memory

Thanksgiving Memory

Ten years ago this week, after negotiating an appropriate separation from MRI Affiliate, Sales Consultants of Brookfield, and having decided to buy my own Management Recruiters International franchise, I was off to New Owner Development Training in Philadelphia for two weeks of rigorous training.  It was a crazy time and a nerve-wracking time.  I didn’t need to start my own business, things were fine and was experiencing success, but with the coaching and mentoring of Jim Luzar and a lot of prayer, I mustered up the courage to try.  Owning my own business was something I had always wanted to do.  When I realized owning a tavern was not a sustainable business model 😊, I chose the business owner/executive recruiter route and the rest, as they say, is history.

It’s been a crazy ten years, but being part of the MRI Network has been a huge blessing, and as a firm we have countless awesome clients and great long-term candidate relationships as well. But from a business perspective perhaps the most crucial aspect of this journey I have been on over the years was the mentor that I chose/chose me all the way back in 2005.  Jim Luzar, you are an incredible friend, mentor, father to your kids, husband to Diane, and an inspiration to others.  For what others might consider measures of success that myself and MR Dominion have experienced has truly been because of all of those candid, from-the-heart, fireside chats we would have over the years.  I am a better man for it and eternally grateful for what you built into me.

This Thanksgiving Season, I am thankful for Jim Luzar.  If you don’t have a “Jim Luzar” in your life that will make you a better version of yourself.  Have the courage to start that journey and go find one for yourself.  Once you do, don't forget to become that “Jim Luzar” for someone else coming up through the ranks.  You will be a better person as a result and the rewards are immense as it truly is better to give than receive.

Congratulations Greg great during choices made all the difference
