Spring Forward and Upward!
Springtime...the sights, sounds and smells of spring! Great time to review why we are here, what we are doing, and the way forward.
Close your eyes for a moment. Think about where you were three years ago. Come on keep your eyes closed after you read this paragraph. Now think about where you are today. Ok lastly think about where you want to be in 2020. Open your eyes! Wow was that what you expected? If you don't do anything different between now and 2020 the only thing that will happen is that you will be 4 years older.
This is a good time to rewrite your resume, regardless of whether you are looking for a job or not. It is always good to keep your contributions fresh in your mind. This is the time of you when performance reviews have finished and we can now focus on what's next.
Capture what you have done. Not because that's what you want to do more of. Do it because that's what will help you be able to do what's next. Keep current with your skills, talents, and abilities. Keep adding to your capabilities and capacity to do more. That in turn will make you more valuable in the long term.
Are you prepared to interview for a new position today? More than once I have heard people say...that position I wanted just opened up. I don't have my resume updated. I am not prepared to interview. Missed opportunity. It takes so little time to sit down and update your resume when there is no pressure. You can always think about what to say at an interview. Just practice. Many promotions are given at this time of year. Don't miss out by not being prepared.
See you at the TOP!

Love the shirt, love your energy.
Very nice comments Mark...I agree that this applies to whatever we choose to do next. Thank you!
Your reflective exercise and your recommendations are excellent. And it occurs to me that in addition to growing and developing one's career as an employee of an organization, one may wish to branch out and do independent consulting, writing, or start a small business.
And also appreciate and enjot what you already have !
