Reboot!
"The words we choose and then we use, create our future!" Ray Ellis
As the new year starts its a good time to look forward to new opportunities. Reboot! Its also a good time to consider what changes need to be made. Nowadays I hear a lot of people say they are looking for their purpose. They want to find their passion and are constantly on a mission and yet miss out on what is there in front of them.
Here is a personal example...I have lived by the beach for 30 years and try to walk there as often as possible. About 7 years ago while walking the beach I noticed the rocks that were there. I also notice when the rocks were not there. It made me think...where do they go when they are not there. I ended up using this as a metaphor for one of my "funshops". Whats important here is that my focus was on the rocks. Going to the beach I would already be thinking about the rocks I would see.
Now yesterday I was walking the beach and I made an intention to see things differently. My girlfriend of 2 years likes to run the beach. When she returns from her run she always brings home sand dollars. I never see sand dollars...until yesterday. I could not believe it but there were sand dollars everywhere. It made me think that they are probably sand dollars there all the time but I was only looking for rocks. I never saw what was there in front of me all the time.
Whats the point I am trying to make? Reboot your thinking and the world around you changes!
After a working career that started in 1970 and took many turns along the way, it was nice to finally retire last February. The past year I have spent time enjoying the fruits of my retirement. Rest, relaxation, travel, exercise, and sailing! For many in my situation they call it a "gap" year. My gap year has exceeding my expectations! Time to Reboot!!!
Now I am ready for the next new chapter of my life. Reboot! During my gap year I did a lot of creative thinking. Created new ideas and content for my 'funshops". I was preparing for the future opportunities that may come my way. I also put it out to the universe that I was ready to "work" again. Reboot! However this time it would be on my terms and when I wanted to work. If it was not fun I was not doing it!
In the first 2 weeks of the new year I got 3 new clients. Calls that came out of no where. Work that I knew would be fun! Work that could charge for that would add value for my clients. Opportunities that give me purpose and fulfill my passion.
Reboot! By now many people have already forgot their new years resolutions. Thats why I make intentions! This year, I intend to be open to new opportunities and let those opportunities provide my purpose in life. I choose to make a change in the way I see the world around me. To Reboot my thinking!
What about you? Reboot? Or would you like to live like Groundhog day? The same thing over and over again...day after day! Think about it...maybe its time for you to Reboot too!

Thanks for the insights Ray. I am ready to Reboot! I always enjoy learning about new perspectives to help shift my thinking.
Congratulations on a successful "gap year"! I still am inspired by our time together and your story of rebound. I'm glad you are well and still enjoying life on the sea.
Here's what I've learned recently: The purpose and passion that I had been looking for were always there; I just stopped ignoring them.
