Software Engineer

We are looking for a sofware engineer to help develop and maintain the software that controls our RAPTOR instrument. You will participate in a high-performing agile team of software and algorithm developers to build new features and functionality into our existing Hardware Abstraction Layer component which interfaces with a firmware layer as well as an orchestration layer. You will also work collaboratively with our systems integration engineers and assay development scientists. 

In this role you will:    

• Write code in both simulated and practical development environments 

• Develop, test, and maintain high-quality software applications using Python 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design solutions 

• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code, following best practices and coding standards 

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner as well as instrument integration issues 

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers 

To be successful in this role you have:  

• Proficiency developing software under revision control with Git or similar 

• Participated in an agile development environment with CI/CD, code review, and collaborative development 

• High proficiency with Python 

• Experience with C++ and node/react is a plus 

• Previous product development experience for molecular diagnostics instruments is highly desired  

• Ability to plan and track work using JIRA and other Atlassian tools 

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail 

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment 

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written 

Education & Experience 

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline 

• 3+ years of relevant industry experience. 

Note: This position is based Onsite in San Diego and will require regular onsite participation at our office/lab in San Diego, CA - to apply you should be resident in the greater San Diego County area. 

The compensation range for this position spans Software Engineer 2 to Senior Software Engineer at $100,000 to $150,000.  (Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, level of the position, skills, knowledge and experience, internal equity, and alignment with comparable market data.)
