It was a simple intelligence test...

It was a simple intelligence test...

...and you (nearly) all failed.

Yesterday I posted a help-wanted note to my LinkedIn feed, looking for a WordPress/Woocommerce consultant. 14 hours later, I have 11 responses... oh, wait, there's another one. 12 responses.

I included very simple instructions: "Send me a note with a description of your experience and your current situation, along with links to past work." Want to guess how many did that?

Two.

I've responded to those two, after carefully considering their materials and portfolio. Want to know what the other 10 are getting? Nothing. Silence. You've wasted my time and I won't let you waste more. And then they'll complain to their friends about how awful employers are.

But you know what? If you won't listen to me now, you won't listen to me later. If you aren't able to follow instructions now, you won't be able to later.

Care and intelligence don't suddenly appear with the promise of a paycheck.

Please notify me if you have any opening my limited experience would be sufficient. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a statement that wasn’t morally bankrupt never mind worker for a boss with such high morales. It would be refreshing.
