Selection of Agitator

Selection of Agitator

One of my friend who has recently started his career have asked me about selection of agitator in API manufacturing industry on the basis of viscosity. Hence thought of sharing my thoughts on this.

This might sound very basic for few engineers but it will help those new buds who are planning for their first interview.

Apart from viscosity, there are other factors also which affect the selection of agitator e.g. type of operation/process, PSD, Nature of reactants, etc.

If you have specific condition for which you want a best suitable agitator then you can post that condition in the comment, I’ll revert you with the details.

Also, if you want any guidance on the other unit operations involved in the pharmaceutical industry then let me know it in the comment. In my coming posts I’ll try to cover them all.

Thank you.

Hi Sushil, Can u pls share utility calculations

I guess you missed the famous one...! SS?

If one of the reactant which i am adding in the acidic viscous reaction mass is light wt & float over the reaction mass which agitator will be suitable.
