Random Magic

Random Magic

Today, I went on a road trip with my friend, and I enjoyed every bit of the experience. It was the most random thing as I had wrapped up plans for the year. Typically, I love plans and schedules, but this came up, and I thought “Why not?”. Initially, I was skeptical about the trip and I wasn’t looking so much to it. Reason was I had just gotten my COVID jab, and I just wanted to be my loner self. But I went anyway.

What was supposed to be an unplanned road trip turned into one of my favourite days this year. Everything clicked! I loved the car, the stopovers, the take outs, the company of my friend and even all the glitches like when we forgot to pay for what we bought. The store owner ran after us, and then we paid. No pranks, I promise ☺️. Several times today, nothing went as planned; we switched up directions so many times that it turned hilarious. In all of it, I laughed so hard, and there was so much joy and banter in that car to fill a pyramid. We rediscovered geography and our friendship, and surprisingly, I saw a different side to me!

Sometimes, life presents us with the most random opportunities and adventure, yet in a world where planning is highly rated, we guilt trip when we allow ourselves to enjoy spontaneity. Here’s the thing though – life isn’t waiting, and some opportunities are wrapped up in the clover of spontaneity and do not fit with our goals. It could be pivoting into a new career or hanging out at a concert with a friend when you typically are a ‘Netflix and chill’ introvert. Whatever it is, have Yes moments that crack through the shell of routine. Allow life the pleasure of evolving once in a while. Moments are the checklists of life, so find space to create incredible ones.

As you prepare for 2022, embrace change and be curious enough to have a moment to seek out adventure. Embracing change builds agility. Therefore, find ways to build your life’s agility. Try to break your own ice. Make up your your mind that this year, you will explore at least one new territory, or learning, or a different kind of relationship. Keep an open mind even when you feel closed off. Your life is a canvas. Create magic, infuse splashes of colour, and spark curiosity about yourself.

You might be surprised by all the wonderful, unexplored magic in random you 😜.

Bunmi, thanks for sharing.
