Making Changes

Making Changes

Today is a new day -- a fresh start from whatever has happened before. You have the chance to be a better version of yourself, to connect more deeply with those around you and to give more love to the world.   It’s easy to get stuck in the mindset that tomorrow is the best day to make a change, but that allows you the freedom to push it off again once tomorrow becomes today. Why not today? Why not now? Is there something holding you back? Take some time to explore that resistance to change if it is indeed something you want to do or stop doing. Get down to what might be holding you back and sit with it for a little while and see why it’s there.

I’m about to embark on a new adventure. I’m leaving a job that I’ve had since 2004, a state that I’ve called home for 20 years and many friends that are like family to me. This is by far the biggest change I’ve taken on in my adult life. Where my path is heading is largely unknown, but I do know that I need to start being more comfortable with not knowing what’s next and focus on doing things that feel right to my soul. Sure parts of this change scares me, but I’m also excited to see what the world has waiting for me around the next corner. As I told a friend a couple days ago, “home is where my sleeping bag is.” I want to feel that sense of home and comfort wherever I am and there is no better way to do that then to take it with me wherever I go.

Small changes or big changes all can be met with resistance, but if you want to make the change then find your way through any obstacles that might get in the way. The New Year is always filled with hope and potential for change, so use this time to reflect on what you want and go get it. We are all blessed to have the opportunities in front of us, so make the most of them and live a life that feels good to you.
