Powerful Feedback.
On the completion of a nine month training program you ask yourself many questions. Where did the time go? What impact did the experience have on the lives of each learner? Will this training benefit their career? How will each student put the training into action? Did I do the job to the best of my ability? What was good and what was not so good about the nine months ? How can I improve going forward to my next training program? As a tutor you are constantly analysing yourself and can often be very critical. Scrutinizing your results, scanning to find the way to improve yourself, this is where feedback comes in.
Feedback is the most beneficial form of recognition we can all experience. Many people find it difficult to give feedback. While others just may not think it is important to take the time out of their day to do this for others. However, when one does take time to recognise another person in positive way it can have many benefits. Feedback is a selfless act. It can help change peoples attitudes and performance going forward.
The group of students that brought me to thinking about the power of feedback are now qualified and competent Healthcare Assistants, they each received "KSATE" as they pointed out in their message above. Knowledge, Skills, Attitude. Training, and Experience. They typed this message into the "Thank you card", received on Friday, this certainly makes me feel valued, they took the time to consider the work I do, it is worthwhile and they chose to acknowledge it, before their departure.
This demonstrates their thoughtful, mindful and caring personalities. I feel the opening line " Thank you for reigniting the spirit of living, loving, and caring" had a powerful impact on me. Powerful feedback. I just had to share and remind you that at times you may feel you go unnoticed through your working lives, that does not mean you have not helped or inspired someone along the way, they just might not take the time to tell you.
I shall treasure this. Wishing each of you success in your lives and "Thank you All" I am very Grateful :)
Sue, your reflection is very meaningful, thank you. Add this to your repertoire: "be the change you want to see in the world".
Powerful words Sue ...yours and your learners'.....
Thank you Mike :)
Totally agree Sue, constructive feedback in both directions, from facilitator to learner and learner to facilitator is the only way to progress training or indeed any kind of teaching. Takes a brave facilitator/teacher to ask for it though 😜 Glad to see all is going well for you.
Speaks Volumes, well done
