Positioning objects accurately with the mouse in Word
When you move drawing objects or tab stops around with the mouse in Word, the objects move over a grid. This means they usually do not move exactly where you want, but just before or after the correct position.
If you press the [Alt] key while moving, the objects do not snap to the grid and you can position them any way you like.
To adjust the grid spacing itself or other grid settings, do as follows:
- Select the Page Layout tab.
- In the Arrange group, click Align > Grid Settings.
