Getting rid of the Adobe Reader menu pane

Each time you open a pdf, there is an annoying menu pane on the right hand side, taking up screen space. You can get rid of it in two ways.

  1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Documents.
  2. Select the Remember current state of Tools Pane checkbox.
  3. Click OK, close the Tools pane and close Acrobat.

If that doesn't work, you can also remove the Tools pane from Acrobat completely.

  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroApp\ENU.
  2. Create a subfolder, for example Disabled.
  3. Move Viewer.aapp to that folder.

If you ever need the menu again, move the file back before you open Acrobat.
