.Net Developer (Remote)

.Net Desktop Developer sought to work remotely from South Africa as part of a global team of Developers. Our client was founded at the end of the 19th century and has grown exponentially, currently employing over 4500 people in offices located in over 45 countries across 5 continents. They are looking for a .Net Developer to join their team to help them fully harness the power of their globally rolled out of ERP System. The legacy system is in VB.Net but they are embarking on a modernization project which requires strong C# skills so you will work with both languages. The .Net Desktop Developer develops, tests, and deploys software applications using .NET WinForm and SQL Server programming languages. You will collaborate with internal teams to understand the business and functional requirements and the solution architecture and will write clean and scalable code whilst providing technical support throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities include analysis, development, implementation and continuous improvement of working methods; ensuring the quality of the solution using development and quality assurance best practice; performing detailed system design using common components and the .NET architecture framework; participating in the investigation of fundamental causes in order to optimise performance and stability; and creating technical requirements that satisfy the business needs.

The ideal candidate will have a Computer Science Degree (or similar) coupled with 3+ years of experience developing desktop and web-based applications using C# and VB.Net as well as strong SQL database experience. You should have strong knowledge of DevExpress Winform (XtraGrid) components and at least one year of Azure DevOps (CICD, Pipeline, release) experience. You should be well versed in T-SQL (CTE, CROSS APPLY, Function, Stored Procedure, SQL Service Broker). Your knowledge should include .Net 6, multithreading; GITFLOW; REST; WCF; and Web API. It will be a benefit if you know Xamarin, Syncfusion, and MAUI and if you are MTA: Software Development Fundamentals certified and DAT201x (Querying Data with Transact-SQL) certified.

The role would suit someone with a great team spirit and a sense of initiative, resourcefulness and autonomy. You should be efficient, organised, have good time management skills, and be able to multi-task and switch between projects. This requires an ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, troubleshoot and problem solve.  The role will call on your ability to interact with end users so you should have excellent English verbal and written communication skills and it will be a big plus if you are equally fluent in French.
