Masking data from any SQL database
Privacy of information is becoming more and more important to the world and to our customers. One signs of this, is that I get asked frequently to mask data in reports or when exporting information from a database.
SQL 2019 has some cool features for this functionality. However most of my customers don’t have this version yet and even if they did, we are not supposed to change the database structure of the Exact Applications.
To help out I have written a small SQL Data masking function which can be used on any SQL database. This function can then be called in any query which retrieves data:
SELECT dbo._fn_Axians_DataMasker(<Field>,<Option>)
F.e.
SELECT dbo._fn_Axians_DataMasker(FullName,1) from Humres
The function supports the following options:
The code can be downloaded here.
It is free to use, but also comes without warranty and disclaimer to use at own risk.
Mask Away!

Dank daarvoor!
