Marathon
A lot of talks have been around cloud computing in the last few years while evangelists have been busy preaching, enterprises has mostly been one of the three categories "Bewildered, Beginner or Brave". The brave ones have taken unprecedented risks to adopt cloud computing while the whole world had still been with a suspicious outlook, Some of the beginners have been treading cautiously in the unknown waters and the rest remain bewildered about security implications and other factors. I am not going to educate about the pro's and con's of cloud computing here but rather would like to throw some light on how things are.
Just as the year 2014 sneaked past so has the affection towards cloud computing in 2014. Cloud is main stream and Enterprises have been dragged in willing or unwilling, mostly as they didn't want to be far behind in this race. The last few years had been a roller coaster with a lot of new technologies that has been in buzz. Drastic change in the consumer for smartphones, social media, wearable devices, have been driving a lot of innovations and Industry analyst did their share by keeping the flame alive. Even if the whole world would go Ga Ga with all those technologies, Cloud computing will remain the unsung hero enabling all of those technologies behind the scenes.
Cloud computing will remain an important buzz word with each and every organization wanting to be a part during 2015-16. There will be a mad rush and enterprises would aggressively adopt it. While most of the technologies so far had favored those leading the pack things will be a little different with cloud computing.
Cloud computing is a marathon and not a sprint.
Those who sprinted and ignored some of the concerns have paid the price. Riding the cloud wave is important but its even more important to do it securely. Those who have understood this, have decided to keep moving along with the crowd.
