The Man in the Mirror!!!
Top of the weekend my friends! Well He’s backkkk! The King of Pop in a brand new move titled “Michael”!
The early reviews from his fans are very positive on the “King of Pop’s” big screen portrayal!
However his detractors and accusers have expressed some concern that the movie doesn’t go far enough to address his alleged his dark side. Hopefully I will try to address the comments from his fans and distractors point of view!
As you can see I actually spent a little personal time with Michael Jackson and his brothers. It was 1984, they chose the Ft Worth’s Convention Center to practice their Victory Tour. By some strange twist of fate I was chosen to be their secret tour guide. One might say a glorified “Go-fer”! As in go for anything they wanted here in Dallas and Ft Worth.
The reason “MJ” choose “Cowtown” was because it was the home of George “Spanky” McFarland. He was the prominent child actor in the “Our Gang” comedy series from the 1930s and 1940s.
The Our Gang shorts were also syndicated to television as The Little Rascals. You may remember Eddie Murphy’s imitation of Buckwheat during his Saturday Night Live run. Well Spanky was the star of that series!
Anyway Michael was always on a crusade to talk with child actors on how they handled fame at such a young age. Along with all the pressures that came with it. Which may explain Michael Jackson’s pension for being around young children? Wait? May I use the more accusatory form?
“Why would a grown man want be around young children?”
Answer: He never got a chance to be a kid!

Michael Jackson was a prisoner of his own fame since the age of 12. No wonder his dream home was “Neverland Ranch”! His own personal amusement park.
As a side note, Mike would call a meeting at the hotel. Dude would actually put a water ballon on top of the slightly open door. When the intended victim walked in. He would take of running, thru the adjoining hotel room door. Laughing hilariously just like a grown kid!
He was also a big fan of country music and wanted some cowboy boots. So off we go to Justin Boot Factory outlet just outside of downtown Cowtown! You would have thought I gave him gold!
Whoever wrote and produced the Michael Jackson broadway musical remarkably captured the mindset of the King of Pop. Mike was a big dreamer with always bigger ideas. He bet on those inner visions and sometimes lost big bucks. He wasn’t afraid to take a chance.
For you detractors of the King of pop. You are right he did have a dark side. Mr. Jackson was a cold-blooded, sometimes heartless business man. Just ask Sir Paul McCartney!
Jackson purchased the catalogues of Eminem, Bob Dylan, Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown and Elvis Presley just to name a few! (So you thought that marriage to Lisa Marie was for love right?)
He then went on to buy a series of classic singles such as “Great Balls of Fire,” “Shake Rattle Rattle and Roll,” “When a Man Loves a Woman,” and “Runaround Sue.” His biggest purchase, however, came in 1984 when he bought The Beatles’ catalogue from ATV music for $47.5 million. However thanks to copyright laws here in the states Paul McCartney eventually received ownership his songs.
Finally. If I could choose one sentence to describe “Michael Jackson” it would be. He was “The Man in the Mirror”! Thanks Siedah Garrett!! Donut you ever forget it!
