Look Within!!!

I get to hear this question very often when I visit colleges in Tamil Nadu.

“Sir, can you help us get some project from the industry?”

My question would be: Why?

“Sir, our students and faculty can work on something innovative and gets a hands on experience”

I am astonished that after several attempts, the faculty members still seem to be unconvinced that they need not rely on the industry for projects.  They need to look at industry, only if some technical knowledge sharing experience is required.

They fail to understand that every problem comes with a hidden opportunity. There are several opportunities around them, there are several opportunities within the campus. Sometimes all that they need to do is look within… look within the campus if not within themselves.

While talking to me a faculty ridiculed me saying, there are several hundreds of problems listed in website, what’s special in you saying it? We can look out there! “Yes Sir, very much. So how many out of that, have you taken up?” “We took 4 projects out of it, struggled to complete in 6 months and when we took it to the industry, they said they had a much simple solution already existing!!!”

A teacher cannot afford to be ignorant. Teaching is not a profession. It’s a Passion. A teacher needs to be a guru who questions every answer. Questioning every answer takes you into the path of invention. Invention is not rocket science. Keep your thoughts simple & experiment on your thougts…

Excellent definition for a teacher
