Freedom

By Monica Larrabeiti Loizaga, MCC, Center for Transformational Coaching

“Until the whole world is free to agree with you or disagree with you, until you have given the freedom to everyone to like you or not like you, to love you or hate you, to see things as you see them or to see things differently - until you have given the whole world its freedom - you’ll never have your freedom”

-Adyashanti.

Reading this quote evoked in me an expansive liberation, my chest opened and I saw it… I saw how much I do imprison myself still because I want people to like me, to agree with my points of view, to not reject me, and so on… So non-sense!

Points of view come from DNA, conditioning and experiences, from those layers of the onion that configure our own self-concept… and they are all so unique and at the same time impersonal, none of us chose them, they were implanted by living our childhoods where we happened to be born.

So innocently conditioned…and playing out those patterns as the only known way to live in this world, a view of the world that is also tainted in its individual configuration with those self-concept patterns! A cosmic universal joke!

So each one of us sees through that unique lens of the onion and we see what we see and we have the opinions that we have and nothing is personal, it’s human condition playing out projections in the whole generative potential through the conditioned lens, all innocent, all universal made personal when the filtering mechanism is not seen for what it is…

Where do we make the link that others should like us or agree with us? Based on what? Moreover, are our points of view “us”? Are our patterns “us”? Or are they just possibilities of thought in a given moment stemming from a certain state of consciousness? Are we reducing ourselves to that limited condition?

Who are we really? Who are the others from which we seek approval or validation? Following the same thread of thinking they would be projected points of view as well…

Can points of view be liked by other points of view? The question doesn’t even make sense to me now :)

As Einstein quotes, "No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it".

So, when it comes to a ‘me wanting to be liked, validated, loved, free’ being the problem, I need to pause and allow a shift in consciousness, a shift in being, in order to sense and feel that ‘made-up-of-points-of-view' self from a more true and unconditioned paradigm, through the knowing that who I am truly is a generative aware loving space or presence where all points of view, beliefs and ideas can coexist… in fact they do…

And in that state of being I can clearly see that the spacious ‘I’ doesn’t need to be liked or understood because it is unconditional, all-inclusive and whole already.

It is freedom and has been freedom all along!!
