Enhancing engineering design, prototyping and optimising processes

As industry inevitability moves into the digital era, confidence in an entirely virtual design processes and digital testing is still lacking. However, there is a huge pressure on companies across all industries to move towards total simulation and digital testing in order to avoid the heavy costs associated with physical testing and the building of prototypes.

Now in its fourth year, the IMechE's Simulation and Modelling 2019 conference will provide a unique opportunity to discuss the latest developments being made with computer aided and virtual engineering. This year's conference builds upon the needs of our delegates, addressing the key challenges of ensuring model validity, assessing uncertainty, multiphysics models, data analysis and the democratisation of simulation. This is emphasised by a varied audience, drawing on the knowledge bases from multiple industries including the automotive, aerospace, power, process and manufacturing sectors.

"I really see the value in getting insight into what my peers at other companies are working on and how this is improving their capability. It provides a real think tank of process and procedures across industry which stokes a passion to improve your own working practices."

Adam Brooke, Senior Principal Engineer, Modelling and Simulation, Fuel and Actuation Sub-Systems, Rolls-Royce

2019 event overview:

  • Hear from leading companies using simulation and modelling including Rolls Royce, Airbus, Amazon Web Services, Wood Group, Caterpillar Global Mining, EDF-Energy, Jaguar Land Rover and AMRC with Boeing.
  • Influence the next generation of software tools by discussing your specific needs and challenges with software developers including Maya HTT, Simulia, Claytex, Altair, FEMFAT Software and AC&E.
  • Discover new modelling techniques that impact industrial design output and competitiveness though more accurate models and efficient design.
  • Identify key challenges and potential solutions relating to a topic of your choice in roundtable discussions.
  • Learn from those working on new methods and approaches to the common challenges across industries including automotive, aerospace, power, aerospace and more.

"I think it is important as engineers in a growing industry to be aware of the latest ideas and to learn from each other. There is a huge range of applications on showcase during the event, but the underlying skills are the same and I always come away with ideas about how a new technology or method could be applied to my job."

Dom Dathan, Aero-thermal Engineer, d2HAero

Automotive, aerospace, power, process and manufacturing industry professionals with a direct or indirect interest in CAE, design and simulation are strongly recommended to join their peers and benefit from this conference: visit the event website for full details and to book your place.

Please invite British Airways. They need to prove the validity of their digital processes more than most!
