Dynamics 365 – Error starting specific Applications using Google Chrome

Until recently I worked in another company, and didn’t experience any problems working with Dynamics 365 for Operations (D365) using Google Chrome. In my new company I get the error below when I’m using Google Chrome performing specific tasks.

My first thought was that the error must be due to more restricted user rights in the new company I’m working in, but I was wrong!


Where do you get the error?

1.    When you want to create a new Financial report or edit an existing report.

2.    When you want to create a new workflow or edit an existing workflow.

Perhaps you get the error using other functionality in D365, but the two above are the once I’m aware of.


Reason for the error

The reason why you get the error is the Google Chrome browser version. You get the error when you are working with the latest version 55.


How to solve the error?

You must add an extension to Google Chrome. This is done by selecting “Customize and control Google Chrome > More tools > Extensions”.

Then select Get more extensions found under the added extensions area

Search for: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/meta4click

Select “Add to Chrome” and “Add extension”

After installing the Mete4 ClickOnce Launcher is added as an extension.


Enjoy working with D365 functionality again :-)

When the extension has been added you should be able to open Financial Report Designer and create and edit workflows.


You might have a pop-up blocker you have to remove first when you open e.g. Report designer.

Select the icon with the red cross and select ”Always …”.

Then open the Report designer again.

Select Run.

The Financial Report Designer application starts downloading.

Type your email and password.

And the Report designer opens and you can create or modify Financial reports.

The Workflow create and edit functionality is also available now. :-)

Hi Sten, Thanks for your reply, I cannot see MR console in Dynamics 365. Building datamart in the sense, do i need to restore the DB. Please suggest. Thanks, Kiran

Hi, We are working on Dynamics 365 operations and i am unable to create a new report in MR. When clicking on New, i was able to login, but we are unable to connect the server. I am unable make my company as default. Can you please suggest. Thanks, Kiran
