Down The Music Path With Python

It's been some time since I have posted any new articles. One thing you might remember is that I am a big fan of using Python code to create music.

Over the last months I have developed what I call Generative Environments-- sounds are used as input, often chosen with some randomness, and the code processes the sounds in certain ways. Randomness is also a factor in the processing. After a large bucket of new loops have been created, these are pulled into a live looping environment that works in a browser window.

The result depends a lot on the environments. I have had especial good luck with environments "Cue 7" and "Cue 9". Here is an example of some works with "Cue 9"-- "CodeBeats" are sound collages made using urban elements:
