Breaking Through Obstacles

Breaking Through Obstacles

Life is a learning journey whether it be positive or negative.  Everyone we’ve ever encountered and every experience we’ve ever had has shaped us in some way....but what do we do when we want to have success and abundance but we can’t get past obstacles?

You may feel depressed and blocked, which could cause you to feel trapped in your circumstances. You may feel that you have limited options, and you could find yourself struggling to find a solution to a problem. If you can lift your focus above your feelings, you should be able to see your situation more clearly and come up with a creative solution. Simply set aside time to be alone.  Release any tension from your mind and body. Empty your mind of all thoughts, and breathe.  Bring to mind a situation that could benefit from your insight today, and review it from this heightened sense of awareness. You may be able to see solutions that had previously eluded you or gain a clearer perspective as you see a situation in a new light.

Choosing to see challenging situations from a different perspective can open our minds to new possibilities and solutions. It is easy to become blinded by our situation when we are enmeshed in the struggle to figure it out. If we can instead lift our focus higher and choose a different perspective, we can gain a greater sense of clarity about our circumstances. With our enhanced awareness, we are able to receive insights regarding different actions we could take or come up with creative solutions to problems. By lifting your awareness above your challenges today, you will be able to see your situation clearly and come up with exciting new possibilities.

As a child I was handed very rigid rules and expectations set by my parents and, of course, as a child, all I wanted was their love so I complied.  My parents were the biggest influences in my life and had the greatest influence on how I think, act and feel about life as an adult.  In order to heal my inner child, I went on a forgiveness journey and have since then healed and released all the negativity and hurt feelings associated with my childhood.  I know that they did the best they could to raise me as that’s all they knew how to be.  If they had better role models growing up then they would have known how to be loving and nurturing parents.

Since I began my discovery and exploration over the 11 years ago, I realized that the obstacles I had to break through were my relationship to money as we lived in a mentality of lack and my history of attracting angry men into my life.  Luckily, being a very determined and hopeful person gave me the push I needed to make positive changes in my life.  My hope and determination also kept me trying to break through my relationship and money issues without ever losing sight of what I wanted to manifest for myself.  My relationship to money these days has improved tremendously.  How have I done that?

The answer is “I did the work”!  By identifying those areas within myself that no longer serve me and finding effective and efficient methods to reframing my thoughts, I have been able to end my 10 year relationship to a man who abandoned me 5 years ago and have paid off all my personal debt.  I recently bought a new condo and am finally able to save money every month towards a trip, RRSPs and eventually a new car. You cannot overcome obstacles whether it be finances, relationships or your own false stories that you tell yourself due to the programming you received as a child....unless you do the work.  By having a daily spiritual practice, you can start to cultivate what you wish to manifest in your life.  A daily spiritual practice could include meditation, prayer, journaling, gratefulness, forgiveness, positive affirmations and self-care.

If money is an issue, ask yourself what you can do to get out of debt.  Do you need to go back to school to get a higher paying job or promotion?  Do you have time to start up your own business out of your home or take on another part-time job?  What about budgeting?  Sit down and figure out all your monthly expenses and how much money you bring in to determine how much money you need to set aside for all expenses plus a little extra for a rainy day and even for something you desire like a vacation.  This will give you a really clear picture of how much extra money you need to bring in to live the life you wish.  Find out if there is any funding available by way of grants, bursaries or low interest loans.  By asking the questions and doing the work you squash the fear of the unknown.  There’s nothing more damaging to our mind, body and spirit then to be worrying about the future and not taking strides towards overcoming the obstacles you fear.

Look at your thoughts.  Do you hate your low paying job and dread going to work every day?  Do you tell yourself that you cannot get a higher paying job because you don’t have the skills and abilities?  Well if you believe that you are not worthy of a higher paying job then the universe will keep you stuck in your non-fulfilling career.  If you believe the reverse and that you are worthy of a better career, then the job opportunity will present itself to you at the divinely right time.  The universe always gives us what we expect….so watch your thoughts!  I used to dread picking up the mail for fear of all the bills I would receive.  Well that’s exactly what I got! Bills, bills and more bills.  Quite a few years ago I let all that fear go and decided to change my attitude and be happy while picking up the mail and by opening myself up to the possibilities of what could be in there. Maybe it was a letter from a friendly or family member?  Maybe it was a notification that a package had arrived for me? Maybe there would be great sales flyers and catalogues for me to look through and plan my next meals?  This change in focus from being in fear to being open to the possibilities really helped to change what I attract.  Nowadays I do get a great mix of things in the mail.

In terms of relationships, if you have a pattern of attracting the wrong kind of partners into your life then do a self-assessment.  Ask yourself why you think that is?  Where is this coming from?  What do these partners tell you about yourself?  This will help to determine what it is within yourself that you need to change to be able to attract the right kind of partner.  Remember that like attracts like.  You attract people like a magnet and the people in your life mirror back to you the kind of person you are.  So if you attract angry partners then it’s because you’re angry and you’re putting that energy out there.  If you focus on living from the heart rather than the ego, you will attract a wonderful new person into your world.  That’s why it’s vitally important to take good care of yourself, stop the self-criticism, show yourself love, and take time out during the week to be with you and only you.  Be the person you wish to see in your partner.  Laugh on a regular basis.  Watch a comedy or You Tube video.  Read jokes...anything to get you laughing....maybe a fun pillow fight or go tickle a friend.  This helps you get out of your negative mind set and into one that’s fun loving and light hearted.

Make sure you get lots of rest, exercise regularly and eat healthy organic foods that are appropriate for your body type.  Do something creative, and connect with others.  Treat yourself to a facial, massage or manicure/pedicure.  Take yourself out on a date.  If you start taking care of yourself and continually do the work to heal and release those areas of your life that no longer serve you, you will attract the right sorts of people into your life.  You will move beyond your obstacles.

Wishing you all the best!
