The Benefits of "Outside the Box" Thinking
Today's news provides a perfect example of how lateral thinking can help solve a nuggety issue. Who would have thought that singing lessons might help with long covid?
Perhaps my favourite example was when a building manager in New York received endless complaints about the speed of the lifts in his rather old multi-storey. Due to the age and construction of the building there was no economic re-engineering solution. Instead a graduate looked at "why" people were complaining and recognised that they were bored while waiting. He recommended installing mirrors by the lift on each floor. Complaints dropped to zero, thanks to a very low cost solution.
When looking for solutions, don't be constrained within the obvious, and try opening it up to the wider team to gain different perspective.
