AI or Human?
Hello, is it me you're looking for?

AI or Human?

The most common design question I get about Sam the AI Recruiter is: does Sam tell candidates it's an AI, or does it pretend to be human?

The answer is simple: we tell the truth.

I’m puzzled why people keep asking this. I suspect it's because we're still grappling with the new reality since 2023—a world where AI has truly passed the Turing test, where it can convincingly pass for a human. Since GPT-3, AI can easily pretend to be one. But just because it can, does that mean it should?

That question doesn’t keep me up at night. The real question is this: now that we have AI capable of human-level conversation, which tasks should we automate, and which should we keep for ourselves?

Sincerely,

Max

The best part of this experience was how it quickly understood I was an awful candidate for this job and was able to get me off the phone quickly! I wish my real recruiters worked that efficiently!

The presentation of AI and it’s execution for such tasks can take on human qualities from the outside. But can the AI recruiter understand and differentiate the candidate’s attitude, demeanor, tone, personality traits that a human recruiter could pick up on and translate those subtleties?
