GitHub Copilot is no longer a nice-to-have for developers. It is becoming partof the way modern organisations build. I have seen too much developer time disappear into repetitive tasks, contextswitching and rewriting patterns that are already familiar. That is exactly why I wrote this piece. GitHub Copilot is not just about faster code. It helps reduce mental load sodevelopers can focus on solving real business problems instead of repeatingthe same steps over and over again. If your organisation is building in Business Central and your teams are stilldoing everything the hard way, now is the right time to rethink that approach. The API Community was at GitHub 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐮 🙌 And this wasn’t just another event for us it was a reminder of what strong developer ecosystems truly look like when 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐑𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐬 come together under one roof. We had some amazing conversations with familiar faces from the 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 and also met many incredible people we’ve only interacted with online 🤝 (Khushi Trivedi Yashraj Nayak Nimit Savant Aditya Oberai Akshat Nema Vedant Kakde Sneha Biradar Dhruv Agrawal Md Zeeshan Jawed Kartikey Garg Ganesh Patil). What stood out to us: • The shift towards real-time, AI driven developer workflows is already in motion • Modern development is evolving beyond just writing code it's about discovery, collaboration, and governance at scale • Communities are no longer side players they’re becoming core to how developers learn, build, and grow At THE API COMMUNITY, this is exactly what we strive to build spaces where developers can connect, share, and grow together. And it was great to see that energy reflected so strongly at Constellation. Big shoutout to GitHub for bringing together such a thoughtful and impactful experience 🙌. Also if you spotted us around, hope you grabbed some THE API COMMUNITY stickers 😄 We’re taking back a lot of insights, energy, and new connections and we’re just getting started GitHub GitHub Education GitHub Security Lab Sarvam Microsoft Copilot Microsoft Reactor #GitHub #GitHubConstellation #DevRel #Community #AI #India #TheAPICommunity

#humanwritten GitHub Copilot runs our dev teams and is a huge part of our organisation. So when they announce something like this, it is a big deal: "New sign-ups for GitHub Copilot Pro are paused with usage limits tightened and Opus 4.7 no longer available." (Link in full article in comments). Anyone who has ever run out of tokens mid sprint will know how much this can affect you. If you rely on these agents and the latest models, then this is a huge RISK for you. Our entire company is on the Business Plans, so THIS particular change actually improves the situation for us, but adoption of agents for frontier firms is in its infancy - what happens when the other 99% of companies start using these Agents in the way they are designed to be used for truly agentic software delivery? We have not even reached the rapidly advancing agentic model where agents are managing agents in a truly autonomous development scenario (Moltbook for Dev?) - we still have the odd human prompting teams of agents, which therefore limits outcomes to the speed of the slowest component. What happens in the next X months when we move to truly autonomous agentic work? Who will get throttled? The same applies to M365 Copilot Cowork or Claude Design and all the other supply chain AI software we use to deliver amazing outcomes to our customers. It also makes me think about the widening inequality gap. The "haves versus the have-nots" - those who can afford AI will rapidly innovate, whereas those who cannot will remain behind in the human-powered software world, in a nightmare of recurring standups, slow progress, and 1000s of backlog items. I also had this thought at the Microsoft AI Tour, which is sweeping the world, and thousands of Microsoft fanboys (myself included) were simultaneously spinning up GitHub Copilot labs during the workshops - perhaps we need a super-refined mini model just for specific scenarios such as workshop labs! #frontier #Microsoft #GithubCopilot #MicrosoftAITourforPartners #MicrosoftAITour #agenticSLDC #agenticDNA

I've been experimenting with GitHub Copilot in a way that I think most developers haven't tried yet — and I wanted to share the workflow I've landed on. Start in the Repository. When you're building something new, go straight to your GitHub repository and describe what you want Copilot to build. From a completely empty repo. No existing code, no setup, nothing. Just tell it what you want and let it go to work. I did exactly that — brand new repository, described my app, and walked away. It scaffolded the entire thing and opened a PR for my review. Then use Issues to refine. Once you have a foundation in place, that's when GitHub Issues becomes powerful. Open an issue, type @copilot, and describe what you want changed, added, or fixed. It reads your existing code and makes targeted changes in context. So the mental model I'd suggest: New project? Start in the repository and let Copilot build the foundation Existing project? Use Issues to extend, refine, or correct Think of it like handing an architect an empty lot versus asking a contractor to renovate what's already there. Two different jobs, two different starting points. Most people are still using Copilot just for autocomplete. The real power is in delegating entire workstreams. #GitHub #GitHubCopilot #AIEngineering #DeveloperProductivity #SoftwareDevelopment #CodingSmarter #AI #DevTools #Microsoft
