A small update, but honestly a very impactful one for anyone working with Terraform on AWS 👇 I recently came across this change while working with the S3 backend — we may no longer need a separate DynamoDB table for state locking. With newer configurations: 👉 `use_lockfile = true` That’s it. At first glance, it looks like a minor tweak… but it actually simplifies a lot of things. Here’s what I see changing: ➡ No need to provision and manage a DynamoDB table just for locking ➡ Fewer AWS resources to maintain ➡ Reduced IAM policy complexity ➡ Cleaner backend configuration From a DevOps perspective, this is a really nice quality-of-life improvement ⚙️ Less setup, fewer dependencies, and reduced operational overhead — which ultimately means faster onboarding and fewer things that can go wrong. Sometimes, it’s these small changes that make a big difference in day-to-day engineering work. Curious if others have started using this yet and how it’s working in your setups. #Terraform #AWS #DevOps #InfrastructureAsCode #IaC #CloudEngineering #S3 #DynamoDB #CloudAutomation #PlatformEngineering #DevOpsLife #CloudSimplification #EngineeringEfficiency

"Should I use EKS or ECS?" — asked every dev touching AWS for the first time. Short answer: ECS (Elastic Container Service) → Simple to set up → Tight AWS integration → Cheaper for small/medium workloads → You don't need Kubernetes features → Team is 2–20 devs EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) → You're already on K8s elsewhere → Multi-cloud or hybrid strategy → Need portability → Large team with K8s expertise → Complex orchestration patterns My default: ECS, unless there's a real reason for EKS. Kubernetes is powerful. It's also a 500-page manual you don't need to read if a 20-page one works. Boring tools win when they fit. What made you choose one over the other? #AWS #DevOps #Kubernetes #CloudComputing #Engineering

𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗢𝗽𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗘𝗞𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗖𝗦. Both run containers on AWS. But the experience is very different. 🔹 ECS ECS is AWS’s native container service. It’s simple to set up and much easier to manage because you don’t have to deal with Kubernetes complexity. Teams usually choose ECS when: • They want quick deployment • The architecture is not very complex • They prefer deeper AWS integration 🔹 EKS EKS is AWS’s managed Kubernetes service. It gives much more flexibility and control, but it also requires understanding Kubernetes concepts. Teams normally go with EKS when: • They are running microservices at scale • They want Kubernetes ecosystem tools • They need portability across environments 💡 Simple way to think about it If you want simplicity → ECS If you want Kubernetes power → EKS Both are widely used in real production environments. Curious to know — what are you using in your projects? #DevOps #AWS #Kubernetes #EKS #ECS #CloudEngineering #DevOpsEngineer
