A small update, but honestly a very impactful one for anyone working with Terraform on AWS 👇 I recently came across this change while working with the S3 backend — we may no longer need a separate DynamoDB table for state locking. With newer configurations: 👉 `use_lockfile = true` That’s it. At first glance, it looks like a minor tweak… but it actually simplifies a lot of things. Here’s what I see changing: ➡ No need to provision and manage a DynamoDB table just for locking ➡ Fewer AWS resources to maintain ➡ Reduced IAM policy complexity ➡ Cleaner backend configuration From a DevOps perspective, this is a really nice quality-of-life improvement ⚙️ Less setup, fewer dependencies, and reduced operational overhead — which ultimately means faster onboarding and fewer things that can go wrong. Sometimes, it’s these small changes that make a big difference in day-to-day engineering work. Curious if others have started using this yet and how it’s working in your setups. #Terraform #AWS #DevOps #InfrastructureAsCode #IaC #CloudEngineering #S3 #DynamoDB #CloudAutomation #PlatformEngineering #DevOpsLife #CloudSimplification #EngineeringEfficiency

A few years ago, provisioning infrastructure looked like this: ☁️ Open the cloud console 🖥️ Create a VM 🌐 Configure the network 💾 Attach storage 🔐 Set IAM permissions And then. 🔁 Repeat everything for staging 🔁 Repeat everything again for production Every change was manual. Every mistake was invisible. And when something broke no one knew what actually changed. 🚀 That’s when Infrastructure as Code changed everything. With Terraform, infrastructure stopped being a manual task and became software engineering. Instead of clicking buttons, you simply run: terraform plan terraform apply ✨ And Terraform handles the rest. ⚙️ Behind the scenes, Terraform: 🧩 Uses HCL to define infrastructure declaratively 📦 Maintains a state file to track resources 🔗 Communicates with AWS, Azure, GCP via APIs 🎯 Ensures your infrastructure always matches the desired state 💡 The result? 🟢 Version Controlled — track every change 🟢 Reproducible — same setup, every time 🟢 Scalable — grow without chaos 🟢 Automated — no more manual effort 🌍 Today, Terraform powers infrastructure for thousands of cloud-native teams. Because modern infrastructure shouldn’t live in dashboards… 📂 It should live in Git. ♻️ Repost if you believe infrastructure should be treated like code. #Terraform #DevOps #InfrastructureAsCode #CloudComputing #PlatformEngineering #AWS #CloudNative
