Hey Everyone!! Day 24 of #30DaysCodingChallenge Today I built a Dark & Light Theme Toggle Web Application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. What I Built A responsive theme toggle application that allows users to switch between Light Mode and Dark Mode. The selected theme is saved in the browser, so it remains even after refreshing the page. Purpose of the Project The goal was to strengthen my understanding of DOM manipulation, CSS variables, and browser storage while building a practical real-world feature used in modern websites. Key Features ✔ Toggle between Dark and Light mode with a single button. ✔ Dynamic button text update (Dark ↔ Light). ✔ Smooth transition effect using CSS. ✔ Persistent theme using Local Storage (remains after refresh). ✔ Clean and centered UI using Flexbox. What I Learned 🔹 How `classList.toggle()` makes theme switching simple and efficient. 🔹 How to store user preferences using `localStorage`. 🔹 How to apply conditional rendering based on saved data. 🔹 Improved understanding of combining CSS and JavaScript for better UX. Even as a Full Stack Developer, CSS fundamentals matter more than we admit. Today I recreated this section pixel-perfect using CSS. Not because I didn’t know how but because sometimes revisiting the fundamentals sharpens precision. The interesting part? When you assign a fixed width to cards, alignment isn’t automatic. You need intentional layout control. In this case: 👉 margin: 0 auto; ensured proper centering. It’s a small line of CSS but details like this separate average UI from polished UI. As developers, we often focus on: Backend logic APIs Performance Architecture But clean layout, spacing, and alignment? That’s what users actually see first. This task was a reminder that: • Mastery is in the details • Fundamentals should stay fresh • Clean CSS makes a visible difference • Pixel perfection builds credibility No matter how advanced your stack is HTML & CSS still define the final experience. The Bridge Between Code and Design 🌉 It’s an incredible feeling to realize that every part of a website can be changed, styled, or even created out of thin air using code! Here is what I learn today: DOM Traversal: Learning how to "find" elements using getElementById, getElementsByClassName, and the powerful querySelector. Dynamic Styling: Using JS to add/remove CSS classes and change styles on the fly. Content Control: Manipulating innerText vs innerHTML and handling attributes with setAttribute. The DOM Tree: Understanding the relationship between parentNode and childNodes. Dynamic Creation: Building entirely new HTML elements from scratch using createElement and appendChild. Learning the difference between a NodeList and an HTMLCollection was a "lightbulb moment" for me today. It’s all about how we interact with the structure of the web. After my last post about Vanilla CSS, a few people asked: "But how do you handle the 'click' state without JavaScript?" The answer is simpler than you think: The Checkbox Hack. By using a hidden <input type="checkbox"> and the :checked pseudo-class, you can: Toggle menus with zero JS. Keep your HTML semantic. Ensure 100% performance on low-end devices. Here’s the 3-step logic: 1.HTML: Wrap your menu in a label connected to a hidden checkbox. 2.CSS: Set the menu to display: none (or transform: scale(0) for better animation). 3.The Magic: Use input:checked ~ .menu { display: block; }. Modern CSS features like :focus-within and the new popover API are making JavaScript "glue code" a thing of the past.
