💻 My JavaScript Learning & Projects Journey Today, I focused on JavaScript to enhance my web development and data handling skills. Here’s what I accomplished: DOM Manipulation – Learned to dynamically change content and styles on web pages. Event Handling – Practiced click, input, and submit events to make web pages interactive. Functions & Loops – Used functions, loops, and conditionals to automate tasks efficiently. Arrays & Objects – Managed data structures to store, access, and manipulate data effectively. Integration with HTML & CSS – Linked JavaScript with web pages to create responsive, interactive designs. Boost Your Page Load Speed: Normal vs. Async vs. Defer 🚀 Ever wondered why your website feels "heavy" or slow to load? It might be how you're calling your JavaScript. Check out this visual breakdown of how the browser handles <script> tags: 1️⃣ Normal Script (<script>) The "Stop Everything" approach. When the browser hits this tag, it pauses HTML parsing, fetches the script, executes it, and then continues parsing. ❌ Downside: Creates a "render-blocking" experience for users. 2️⃣ Async Script (<script async>) The "I'll do it when I'm ready" approach. The browser fetches the script in the background while the HTML continues to parse. However, the moment the script is downloaded, it pauses the HTML parser to execute. ⚠️ Best for: Independent scripts like Google Analytics or Ads where the order doesn't matter. 3️⃣ Defer Script (<script defer>) The "Gentleman’s" approach. Like async, it fetches the script in the background. But here’s the magic: it waits until the HTML parsing is 100% finished before executing. ✅ Best for: Your main application logic that needs the DOM to be fully ready. 💡 Pro-Tip for Interviews: Use async if the script doesn't depend on any other scripts. Building a strong foundation is important before moving into more advanced technologies. 📌 Key topics I practiced today: • Creating HTML Forms using "<select>" and "<option>" for dropdown menus • Using different "<input>" types such as checkbox, radio buttons, and file upload • Implementing form validation with attributes like "required", "minlength", and "maxlength" • Understanding Semantic HTML elements to structure web pages more meaningfully • Working with important HTML attributes like id, class, style, and title • Combining everything to build a basic HTML webpage Every small step in learning helps build a stronger understanding of how the web works. I’m excited to share my latest project: a Quiz Application built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This project focuses on building an interactive user experience while managing application logic on the front end. Key features: Multiple-choice questions with randomized order Countdown timer for each question Immediate feedback on user answers Controlled navigation between questions Final score calculation and display Restart functionality Through this project, I strengthened my understanding of: DOM manipulation and dynamic rendering State management for quiz flow (questions, score, timer) Event handling and user interaction Writing cleaner, more maintainable JavaScript code This was a valuable step in improving how I approach building real-world front-end applications, especially in handling logic and user experience together. Next, I plan to enhance this project by integrating it with an API and making it more scalable.
