Here's the right approach.👇 Step 1: Map stakeholder beliefs (not content types) - What does the CFO need to believe about ROI? - What does the CTO need to believe about implementation? - What does the end user need to believe about daily impact? And so on for EVERY SINGLE decision-maker and influencer in your sales cycle. Step 2: Design the belief journey - Belief 1: "We have a problem worth solving" - Belief 2: "Solutions like this can work." - Belief 3: "This specific solution fits our situation." - Belief 4: "This vendor can deliver results." - Belief 5: "The risk is worth the reward." Step 3: Create content that builds beliefs systematically - Don't start with "What format?" - Start with "What belief does this build?" - Then choose the format that builds that belief best. It’s leverage. It’s the system that turns what your company knows into what your market needs to learn before buying. Here’s how that works 👇 1. Start with customers, not keywords. Talk to them. Listen to what frustrates them. Then layer in search and audience data to see what the market is already asking for. 2. Build a strategy that prioritizes revenue, not traffic. Every piece of content should move someone closer to buying — from “unaware” (stories and beliefs) to “problem-aware” (frameworks and how-tos) to “solution-aware” (case studies, webinars, lead magnets). 3. Treat content like a product. Launch fewer, better assets that people actually want to read, share, and cite. Don't just fill a calendar. Make it count. 4. Go where your audience actually is. STEP 2 - Prioritize conversation over visibility. > Create posts that encourage interaction. > Ask questions or offer insights that spark discussion. Example: Instead of an update, pose a challenge your audience faces and offer solutions. STEP 3 - Focus on consistency, not frequency. > Don’t feel pressured to post daily. > Consistent, thoughtful content builds trust over time. Example: Weekly posts that go deep on a subject can generate higher engagement than daily surface-level content. STEP 4 - Analyze what works. > Check which posts get the most engagement. > Use that data to guide future content. Example: If a post about solving a client problem resonated, create a series based on that. STEP 5 - Engage meaningfully with responses. > Reply to comments with intention. > Build relationships through thoughtful replies. Teaching is my business. Content is the classroom. Every post, newsletter, or podcast is a chance to help someone think differently about partnerships, leadership, or growth. That’s the real reward. But building a content-led business is still a new journey. There’s no 100-year playbook. We’re all figuring it out as we go. That’s why I lean on frameworks. One of the most useful I’ve found comes from Chenell Basilio into what makes content “insanely valuable.” She mapped six emotional drivers that high value content unlocks: 1. Saves money 2. Saves time 3. Makes you feel smarter 4. Unlocks a new way to grow 5. Speeds up execution 6. Adds levity or human connection When I create, I use these as a filter. If a piece doesn’t trigger at least two, it probably won’t stick and we don't ship it. Here’s how that plays out: Newsletter • Each edition must be more than interesting • It has to be bookmark-worthy • A resource you’ll forward to a colleague LinkedIn • Each post aims to be practical and clear • The kind of ideas you can quote in a team meeting • The resource you'll 📸 and read over ☕ Podcast • The prep for each episode must be world class • Each episode must deliver a 'human aha' • Listeners should be compelled to use it to open conversations inside their own business And here’s the part people don’t see: it takes a tribe. Yes, I’m the one writing. But I have a tiny team behind me making sure this gets to you in the right format, at the right time, in a way that’s useful.
