What changed wasn’t effort. It was understanding that remote networking has its own rules. The founders who win use it strategically to create trust, visibility, and leverage. Here's what actually works if you want remote networking to drive real growth 👇 1️⃣ Lead with async value Before asking for someone's time, show up in their comments and shares. By the time you reach out, you’re already familiar. 2️⃣ Ask for warm intros properly Be clear about why you want the intro, and draft the message for the connector. Move fast once the intro happens. 3️⃣ Use short video messages selectively A 30–60 second Loom is very effective. It shows them your vibe instantly. Always be specific and human. 4️⃣ Host small virtual roundtables Bring 4–6 people together around a clear topic. You facilitate, and they connect through you. 5️⃣ Build relationships in public Reference people’s ideas in your posts, and tag them. Public respect pushes towards private conversations. 6️⃣ Run virtual office hours Set fixed times that anyone can book.     Topic: Map your network to remove impediments and spark change Type: 1-hour Retrospective format Liberating Structure: Social Network Webbing 🥳 Creating change independently is tough if you're a Scrum Master or Agile Coach. 🤷♂️ Especially in large organizations where the people with influence are difficult to contact. When removing an impediment, you should first find people in your organization facing similar impediments and work together to remove them. This experiment is about leveraging organizations' informal and formal networks to create change. It is based on the Liberating Structure of “Social Network Webbing.” To try this experiment, do the following: 1️⃣ Start by inviting coaches, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Developers from different teams eager to remove organizational impediments to Scrum. 2️⃣ Ask: “What are the biggest impediments we face? What in this organization is making it difficult to work empirically?”. Collect the biggest impediments. ❌ 3️⃣ Create a (virtual) wall or use the floor for the social map. Bring stickies in different colors. Start creating the social network map by asking the participants to write their names on stickies. Put them in the center of the social network. These people are the “core group”. 4️⃣ Ask people to identify the key groups or departments you need support from to remove impediments. Limit to a maximum of ten groups and create a legend where each has a different color or symbol. 🔵 🔴 ⚫ 5️⃣ Invite everyone to write down the names of people they know in the organization on separate stickies, using the legend. Ask people to place the stickies on the map based on how close or distant they are to the people currently present. 6️⃣ Ask people to answer, “Whom would you like to include to remove the impediments we’re facing? Who has influence, a fresh perspective, or the skills we need?”. 🤔 7️⃣ Write down the names on separate stickies, using the legend. Map the stickies on the network based on their current and desired involvement. Update the legend as new groups are identified. 8️⃣ Ask everyone to look at the emerging map and ask: “Who knows whom? Who has influence and expertise? Who can block or boost progress?” Based on the answers, draw lines connecting people and groups. 9️⃣ Use “15% Solutions” to generate strategies for involving distant influential people or working around blockages.
