Are you ready for an Interview ?
This question can only be answered by you. Don’t be scared to be bold. Although we are talking about freshers here, trust me, this feeling rattles experienced ones too. It’s not in your hand if you will be hired, but make sure your personality is such that you can’t be ignored.
Here are few tips to get you prepared…..
- Do some research about the company, employers as well as interviewer(s).
Going through the company’s website is the best way to understand its achievements, goals and mission. You might get to find your interviewer(s) on their website as it will be helpful to get acquainted with their profiles. Learn about all the published articles, blogs and news etc. about your prospective company or employer. In this way you can find a common ground to discuss about too.
- Be prepared with all your certificates and documents.
Be aware of your CV and ready to be asked about your skills and interest areas.
Always mention your accomplishments related to the industry. On being asked, a few personality traits can be mentioned too…like how you’re a team leader, proactive, go getter, hardworking, punctual and so on…make sure to be true, lying is a complete no.
- Never ever criticize anything or anybody.
Being bitter will make you look ungracious and hard to work with.
- Ask few questions about your role, your boss and your future in the company.
Your questions should reflect your research on the company and your job profile. Do not ask about salary and other perks.
- Dress properly and be comfortable. Well-groomed personality helps in achieving half of the success.
The first impression your interviewer makes about you is based on how you carry yourself. To make your impression more impactful, choose your attire appropriate to your work profile.
- Listen carefully, don’t give hasty answers and don’t interrupt your interviewer.
Always look confident, maintain eye contact and don’t hesitate to admit if you don’t know the answer. Admitting to not knowing something is much more impressive than lying.
- Collect the business cards from your interviewers. Try to come off as a genuine and likeable person. Sometimes employers don’t hire the most qualified candidate but rather someone whom they like the most.
For feedback and follow up, contact your consultant just after the interview.
Job interview is an opportunity to transect your ability and skills related to the job.
