Are You An Introvert Or An Extrovert?
Introverts bring extraordinary talents to the world, but they're often overlooked in the workplace.
Interesting and not surprising. Extroverted personalities are more focused on getting attention and recognition than introverted types who actually become uncomfortable with such attention while they quietly work behind the scenes with the most sincere and authentic ground work. Their motivation comes from doing a job well and they see it as not some ‘achievement’ but the most natural extension of their potential which is why they don’t care so much for blowing their trumpets like the extroverted leaders whose motivation is derived from being recognized for even the simplest of contributions. In my observation, this is the most basic difference which is why introverts often don’t get the promotions or leadership positions they deserve but the bright side is that they are also less affected by highs and lows in their career, especially perceived failures. With extroverts, often the motivation is so extrinsic that the moment the external source disappears, they can take a real bad fall and struggle with bouncing back.
Unfortunately in our world, the vocal and those who are masters in the art of embellishment win the day. Introverts are not focused on appearance. They do the actual job, not the least worried about the limelight.
Introverts UNITE! Stand up, say something. Let people know that you are there and not to be overlooked or taken for granted.
