The world runs efficiently because of average behavior

Every single article, book, motivational series highlight the skills, the habits, the mindset of high achievers. Every great orator tries to motivate people to become a leader, a potential Bill Gates, a Musk or a Nadella. To aspire to be great is wonderful but in this journey do not forget to acknowledge your averageness.

Leaders inspire with a vision and motivation, but is it really how the world runs? If every one is a leader who will they lead? People tend to disregard the worth of the average coder, the average manager, the average engineer, the average technician, the average investor, the average farmer, the average soldier, the average common man.

Without these average people working diligently and consistently every single day the world will be a chaos of leaders trying to up each other and proving they are better than the rest.

Having a work ethic, an honest philosophy, integrity to root you and a hard working attitude is more important than trying to be a leader in every aspect of life. A revolution happens because of average common people agreeing on a single idea- a product is successful because of the team working together - a project completes it’s lifecycle because of the diligent worker chipping away at the ordinary tasks - a battle is won because of the extraordinary courage of the foot soldiers. The world is being fed by the simple farmers waking up early every single day.

Yes the world needs leaders but it needs these honest average joes many times more. Only from these average people will the true leader arise who will put empathy before personal fortune, who will think of collective prosperity over ego runs, and who will think of the mission before the reward.

So to all the people out there feeling a little overwhelmed by the accomplishments posted, by the beautiful vacation pictures, the busy social calendars, the cute baby pictures, the enviable resume or the stacked investment portfolio - Remember to practice joy in the average life you have.

You may not be a leader but without you, the leader has no role. You may not be the ideal parent but without you, there is no family. You may not be the manager who rises meteorically but without you, the company has no solid foundation. You many not have a great portfolio but without your participation, the stock market will crumble. You may not have a few thousand followers or likes on your posts but without you, social media will not exist.

So take pride in being Average - take pride in the skills you have - take pride in the life you have built on an honest foundation - take pride in family around you - take pride in working hard with integrity over comparing your accomplishments with those of others. If the world is running efficiently today - it is because of people like you. Practice Joy in just being average!
