Controversial, controversial, controversial. Why should one choose Python over R?
After having the will to learn a programming language, one must decide what programming language to choose out of the plethora that exists. Now, learning a programming language is not the easiest of skills to learn and lingers close to impossibility if two are to be learned simultaneously. To come to decide upon python as the best choice amongst choices was rather an easy decision.
Often less is spoken, and much is taken wrongly under the tag of “Programming Language”. Python is much more. Python is an interpreted, high-level, general-purpose programming language. A language that has the ability to support numerous programming paradigms, including procedural, object-oriented, and functional programming. Python has often come to be described as the wholesome language. You could build websites with it. You can build data pipelines with it. You can run machine learning on it. You can build applications. You could do everything with Python. Whereas, that is not a possibility with many others including R.
Do not get me wrong, many people treasure R, it gives you Data Analytics and the machine learning tools, but it does it allow for the making of a universal platform.
As a marketer learning python is more of a universal skill moving forward, considering the fact, no one is entirely sure of what the job market is going to look like for marketers in the future. There is a reason why the big tech companies are building all their platforms using the gift of Python. Having such skills can take you places in the future.
