Time for Tea at John Lews

Weeknote 2026.08

A lot of little things, and a few bigger things, led me to think about orthodoxy.

At work

With just two days in the office this week I tried to compress everything essential into the time available.

Thursday was about completing and submitting a report, a few last-minute additions, a final proofread, and sent two minutes before the deadline. Not my preferred way of doing things but sometimes needs must. Also caught up with a colleague about our innovation week, led another excellent all-staff virtual meeting and followed up on some corporate administration.

Friday was taken up with interviews. And putting the finishing touches to another report due next week. And a good chat with an associate about orthodoxy.

At leisure

On Saturday, a walk from Hadley Wood to Arnos Grove, through the glorious green spaces at the top left of Enfield with a few steps in Barnet along the way. Then off to Stratford to see Crime 101, my first post-pandemic cinema viewing. On Sunday, just catching up on things at home.

Then a three days annual leave, on Monday ticking a few items off my personal to do list and brightening up the front of the house with some bedding plants, on Tuesday a walk from Manor House to Wood Green the long way round, and Wednesday was family time.
