Weekend trip
Last weekend me and my wife wanted to escape the grind of daily life. Looking to find peace and quiet in the beautiful north of our country to go for a walk and not having to think about work/business. How could I have known, the Bed & Breakfast we ended up was busy with preparations for the GDPR.
So again, I got caught up in my daily routine :-)
Well, since we like to help to give insight into what's expected of companies we started a discussion about his company, the hospitality industry, and the challenges they face. After a while we concluded the GDPR regulations seem to be very complex for those who have to prepare themselves.
Many questions, many ambiguities and especially the fear that something happens to third party data is the biggest challenge they face. An SSL certificate on the website is not enough. Encrypting data is not enough, Terms and conditions are not enough so what is?
The hospitality industry is all about personal data as we know......
It is not just the larger companies, it is about mainly the companies that do not know what to do and are depending on their IT partners who, mostly, do not have enough knowledge about security matters.
Fortunately Erve Fakkert, the Bed & Breakfast we've spent our weekend (which is very nice and quiet with lots of potential and business options), has already taken a lot of steps to ensure their customers personal data can not be abused.
There you go, it's not going to be easy but certainly doable to take adequate steps to ensure personal data security.
