This week in process excellence
Hot off the press! This week, PEX Network launched its new category news coverage. Rounding up the latest news from industry Vendors, Research & Reports and the wider community, these bulletins are designed to keep our audience up to date with the recent goings-on in and around the process sector.
On Monday, our Vendor News featured updates from some of the leading process technology and service providers around the world. We explored IBM’s release of Process Mining 1.15.0, which promises to bring significant performance enhancements and advanced analytical capabilities to users. IBM’s most acclaimed feature, prescriptive process mining, is now generally available for both legacy and NextGen engines, with 1.15.0 delivering up to seven times faster performance than previous versions. We also covered a new partnership between process mining and process intelligence giant Celonis and French telecom provider SFR to optimize the fiber connection process and improve customers’ satisfaction, as well as ABBYY Vantage being named best intelligent document processing (IDP) solution in the AI Breakthrough Awards.
On Wednesday, our news coverage focused on the latest Research & Reports as a set of studies revealed that employees who use AI as a core part of their jobs report feeling lonelier, drinking more and suffering from insomnia more than employees who don’t. “Each study was designed to reinforce the core message of our paper, and as a whole, they paint a concerning picture for the well-being of employees using AI in their work,” wrote researchers David De Cremer from Northeastern University and Joel Koopman from Mays Business School of Texas A&M University. In contrast, separate research from Censuswide highlighted the promise AI is creating for office workers, with many seeing it offer new skills and personal growth opportunities. As many as 96 percent of surveyed office workers believe AI can enhance their professional skills, with 85 percent expecting AI to improve their roles. We also explored the role interactive process mining can play in addressing healthcare challenges (Journal of Healthcare Informatics Research) and how Lean digital transformation and robotic process automation (RPA) can streamline the healthcare expense claims process (Scientific Reports).
To close out the week, our Community News bulletin covered updates from brands such as Coca Cola, American Airlines and Amazon as well as a new operational excellence hire at AXA XL and Deloitte’s recognition of women in process mining. We learned about Cola Cola’s new partnership with Systal Technology Solutions to drive its network transformation journey across Europe, a move that will “significantly enhance” the firm’s operational efficiency and allow it to better serve “customers and stakeholders,” according to Tim Davies, director of infrastructure and network services.
