Website Technology Assessment
I am again studying the website templates systems. The most basic one is call a static website, which is like the
website
Even that has a steep learning curve and if you check it you will see that it is complicated. I used a program called Artisteer to help create that site and went through a book to learn how to use that software.
The sophisticated web sites where you can put in information or extract information other than what shows on the site usually are called CMS (content management system). These are terms as dynamic sites which really means that they are interactive ,where you can request something and the software locates it and displays it or it takes information which you submit and processes that for a result.
Usually one has to hire a programmer to do such sites because it involved several computer languages and processes. The most basic computer language, the ABC, is called html (hypertext markup language) but with CMS other languages are involved. These other languages are different to html and so one has to learn these languages and has to use them by certain defined methods known as syntax.
The rules of this syntax was created by the person(s) who invented that specific language.
There are some software which one can use while knowing very little of these other languages, where you can get certain results in the form a complicated site without actually knowing the complex language which are required behind the scene. This might be like having an interpret or if an English-speaking person goes to Russia and only know how to say yes or no in Russian.
One such software is Joomla. I studied this over a year ago and am studying this again because I need to set up the forum in a way where I can maintain it easily without having to pay programming support to apply updates and fixes every year.
I am still not in a position to say that I can actually make the site using Joomla and I might jump into another software if I can find one which suits the sites needs better than the software which I am using now which is called socialengine php*.
Fiddling around in the back end, the technical side of a website, could be a bother because if you interfere with any of the languages there, the entire site might just disappear and you won’t know what to do to get it back. Or your site might collapse in such a way that it is looks like mumbo jumbo. Or it might just not surface and may give error messages. In the end it might be expensive to hire a programmer to find out what happened. This means that to run a site from the back end one has to know something about the technical ways these site operates from the angle of computer intelligence.
Computer intelligence works in an exacting certitude manner so that human flexible, make-a-mistake-here, make-a-mistake-there intelligence, does not fit to it and when the computer is in control, it is totally detached from human needs, and does whatever it does, in whatever way it does, with whatever logic it has within it.
Humanity will be coyed under by these technologies and the day might come when it regrets ever getting involved with them.
Joomla is very complicated and any non-programmer who feels that he or she can master it without a lot of study is basic insane. Study aside, it is not easy to master because there are so many parts to it and the layout of it is such that one has to conform to the minds of the people who set it up initially and also to that way computer intelligence operates.
As we struggle day after day to understand material nature, so we will be challenged by the inside operations of a computer. The more these systems are made to be easy to operate by a consumer the more complicated they will become on the back end which means that most human beings will not be able to do anything on the controlling side of these gadgets.

Michael, consider exploring WordPress. It is a solution like Joomla, but more widely used and supported. It is complex to begin with, but it is ultimately easier to use and more flexible than Joomla.
