VxRail Lifecycle Management from VxRail Plugin
VxRail Life Cycle Management have changed with the new VxRail Plugin, so instead of being linked to the old VxRail Appliance Interface, this is now handled from the Plugin. The Plugin should now be “feature complete” so no legacy VxRail Manager.
Pointing to the Cluster, choose “Configure”, “VxRail” and then “Updates”, you can now see the current version, choosing “Internet Updates” should show what versions that are available.
I did a "Local Upgrade", where i manually uploaded the upgrade bundle.
Ready to Update the VxRail Hyper Converged Infrastructur (HCI) environment, which includes VxRail Manager, vCenter Server, ESXi, drivers and firmware – from “one good known state to another good known state” - VxRail now estimate the time required for the upgrade to complete!
The update can now be scheduled!
Fill in the usernames and password!
Ready to lift off!
During the upgrade a detailed status is shown.
To speed up the upgrade process VxRail Manager now prepares the next host while upgrading the current host. While upgradin node01 in this example, VxRail Manager is doing "upgrade preparation" to node02. Upgrade preparation includes pre-staging of software, drivers and firmware to the host.
Upgrade completed.
Happy upgrading :)
It's nice having the VxRail Manager in one panel in VMware
