VAK Model

The VAK model is a simple way to understand learning styles for three categories of learners. These learning styles are Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic learners. Let’s learn about these learning styles one by one.

"A picture is worth a thousand words."

Visual learners

Visual learners have the capacity to learn only when they:

·        See visuals

·        See posters

·        See animations

·        See videos

·        Watch a movie

·        Read on-screen text

·        Read a book

They retain information if presented in these ways. Here, knowledge is transferred by looking and observing things in the physical environment.

“Even when I hear nothing, I rest in knowing he hears me.”

Auditory learners

Auditory learners have the capacity to learn only when they:

·        Listen to audio clip

·        Listen to songs

·        Listen to music

·        Speak to the audience

·        Participate in the discussion

They retain information if presented in these ways. Here, the knowledge is transferred by hearing, listening around in the physical environment.

“I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand.”

Kinesthetic learners

Kinesthetic learners have the capacity to learn only when they:

·        Create a working model

·        Draw something

·        Solve a puzzle

·        Solve a problem

·        Demonstrate a practical

·        Find real-life connect

·        Learn while doing

They retain information if presented in these ways. Here, the knowledge is transferred by the personal experience in the physical environment.
